Flock of Christ Mission Youth Fellowship

The goal of our youth department is to train our youth to become followers of Christ  as men and women who is charged with the responsibility of Knowing  Christ and Making Him Known to our World, and then to be heavenly conscious and earthly wise. Fellowship meetings, activities as well as a committed youth leaders are the means we use to train up our youth.

Here are few things amongst others that defines us as youths of Flock of Christ Mission

  1. We don’t do it alone. Our youth pastors have big roles, but they don’t do them alone. We rely heavily on volunteers to serve as small group leaders (such as departments within and the campus fellowship) and fill a variety of other roles within the larger church. This focus of building up more leaders not only frees up our youth pastors to lead the arm at a higher level, but we’ve found that building up volunteer leaders helps the people feel more loved and cared for.
  2. We build relationships. Relationships are vital to a thriving youth group, and small groups such as this one, are where those relationships flourish. Small group leaders take time to get to know their members and even connect with them outside of church by attending sporting events and showing an interest in their families and activities.
Through these relationships, our small group leaders focus on the three Ms: model, meddle, and motivate.
Model: show them how to live like Jesus
Meddle: ask questions to learn, listen, and care
Motivate: encourage them to be greater and do more.
  3. We lead others to lead. We know our department is effective if our youths are leading themselves and others. Do they read their Bible on their own? Invite people to church? Do they serve in the church?
  4. We want students to have FOMO. Have you ever watch a TV show or series because you knew others would be talking about it and you didn’t want to miss out? Thats FOMO—the Fear Of Missing Out, and it’s very real in our midst. There’s a lot of variety in our services or program —in length, in topics, and in style—and its all designed to keep youths guessing, interested, and coming back.
  5. We don’t shy away from hard topics. In our meetings, we cover some heavy topics— gangs, drugs, alcohol, marital issues amongst others—because that’s real life issues or potential issues for youths. Youths will be encouraged to open up quickly in their small groups and transparent as the leader takes them on from there by the power of God breaking chains.
